It was during the last twenty minutes of this amazingly directed, interesting psychological thriller when I realized that this is actually pretty fucking dumb. I guess we're supposed to admire this rapist because he doesn't conform to society like the rest of us losers? Then we have the women-- who spend the movie protecting this trashcan man for no good reason-- and worse-- end up actually buying into his crap and can't seem to picture a life where his crimes don't define every single day of the rest of their lives... From the scene in the train, the film just irritated me more and more and kept going and going and going into more absurd and offensive places. It went from like a strong 8/10 to a 4/10. Like I said: stunning visually, exhilarating editing, very interesting ideas presented, kind of dumb when you understand what it's actually going for. 2 years ago -
