walrus123, that's what I did when I first signed: I checked some lists in order. But I got bored and came back one year later. That's when I checked most of the stuff I had seen. Suppose I had seen all the movies in the list, why not check them all in order? I don't follow that idea.
It is possible. There's been more than a couple people where it's been suspected and after a PM to them, they've gone back and unchecked a bunch of stuff or they've just outright admitted they never saw the stuff in the first place.
I trully believe there's no way you can actually tell a cheater by his behavior on the site.
Did you know movies are (and always were) screened in particular movie theaters irl all across the world, and many people were (and are) able to watch movies you will never be able to?
Out of any European capital, with an audience of film institutes screenings and film festivals, for example, could come someone who outnumbered you all. I can think of 2 or 3 people I know personally who fall into that category and who would probably be considered cheaters. I think that could be a problem.
I don't mean to offend anyone, but a lot of you really need to get off the internet or at least think out of that box.
Sorry for my english, please don't bother to tell me it's bad.
Um, maybe just getting rid of the whole top users list may curb this entire problem you're worried of (or at least don't make it public face-off).
Note:I would hate to have my account deleted based off some algorithm that interprets my need to catch up in databasing the movies I've seen in the past two decades as cheating.
That's an awful idea. There's other websites out there already setup to do something like this. One of them being imdb.
This is the site for checking what you've seen. If you haven't seen it, don't check it. If you want to track movies a different way, you go somewhere else.
How about, instead of deleting a suspected cheater's account, you just remove them from all top lists? That way, innocent users won't lose all their checked movies – with some recourse to reinstate one's good standing – and cheaters won't ruin the top lists for everyone else.
How is it possible for Rich and Kasparius to go "up" ("+1") in their ranks today? They are already at #1 and #2, and remain there. What is the +1 about?

maybe you could easily detect them if they go straight down the list and check them in orderPublic Enemy

I'm an avid movie watcher have a cineworld card, I go to lots of film festivals etcI love the website, i'm going through each actor and director that I can think of on imdb to remember which films I have and have not seen.
The only thing I can think of is to try to capture an image for each film so that no mistakes are made?

It's not a hard concept to follow.

Someone got busted. You mean someone planted him/herself at #1? How subtle.
I don't claim to understand these people, but that just seems silly.
