Also, while I am here...

I have been working hard at going through the ALL movie list to check what movies I have watched (Sadly only on the L's).

Why is there no option to just look for U.S. titles when the order is A-Z already? Or a specific countries' titles, period.

People could weed through the majority of them if there was this option as it seems many, many titles are stated in other languages. From the nearly 600,000 movies you have in your system, it would be a HUGE help to narrow down when working on records.

I don't normally complain much when I dislike updates, I put up with all the horrendous Skype updates that removed features and cluttered the UI without complaining. But this update has really upset me - I liked using this site and felt it would was only a matter of time before it became really popular. Now today I discover that not only is the UI of the site changed for the worse but also the recommended feature that I used frequently now requires a paid membership. I'm extremely disappointed and will now be looking for an alternative site, I don't know why so many companies these days think it's good practice to alienate the core customers. Thanks for everything up until this - it was good while it lasted.

I left a long comment a couple of days ago and have now discovered that I also can't add to my watchlist, nor could I copy and paste the titles in it into a separate document...So I have hand-typed the 50 or so titles and removed everything from watchlist. There is no point in having it if I can't maintain it properly.

Very disappointing. :(

It is not the amount the site is now charging (which is a small and fair amount) that is the problem, but the principle that we suddenly have no access to things without being forewarned of this happening. I have the box ticked to receive a newsletter and I follow the site on Twitter - did I miss an advisement that we would lose access to these various features?

I am not usually one to complain but now find myself increasingly frustrated with the site. :(

Search isn't limited to 10 items, that's a bug on our servers. The paging for those pages is broken, we're working on fixing that.

In that case I get to retract a large part of my criticism, which is always a good thing. :)

I'll see over the next few weeks how things will pan out with the new limitations; some I don't really care about, others I might but as long as I can do what this site was made for (keeping a list of movies I've seen) I'm definitely going to stick around. :)

Good luck fixing the remaining bugs. :)

@BillieDove: You can search for list titles. It'll say there are 0 results (because there's a bug), but if you click the Lists tab you'll see the list.

There's also a list of filmography lists on the forum:

Just one more thing (I hope you still read this): as the number of personal lists gets bigger, it would be nice if the searched option searched not only the tags, but also the title. I don't know if I'm being clear.

Say, if a user makes a Marlon Brando filmography, which would be useful to me, but doesn't put any tabs, I'll never be able to find it. Then I'll make one myself. Then the site will the cluttered.

One suggestion:

It would be nice to be able to sort lists by 'percent completed.'

I think this is actually going to make people leave for sites like mubi, IMDB or List of best for their list making, not make them pay for an account. There is nothing that aggravates me more as a consumer than that kind of carrot and stick policy. Very disappointing.

@themagician: It's going to get worse. The site will soon be filled with lots of incomplete lists, which will be confusing for everyone.

I really don't think limiting the number of films per list is a good idea at all.

It's shit like this that happens because of the list restrictions: http://www.icheckmovies.com/lists/criterions+eclipse+collection/sarmatianus/comments/

A user with a free account tries to contribute, to make the site slightly better, by adding a predictably popular list, but because of the limit is only able to add the first 100 entries.

How is this a good thing for the site? I want to hear some arguments from the powers that be.

Being able to save my favorite list by title(alphabetically) would be sweet(or any other order).

Importing movies is also buggy by not processing into ICM database once uploaded.

Uploading an image for personal a list only crops the upper left portion of the image instead of resizing the whole image down into icm proportions(70x70)

@jamie_atp: Yes! Totally agree with that:

quote:
some internet users just want what they want, right now, for free, and screw anything getting in the way of that no matter how valid the reasoning. and if they don't get it, it's a huge outrage and pretty much the end of civilisation

But instead, how many mentions to the big bunch of new lists (many of them quite promising)? None so far, I think.

It seems a lot of the search problems are down to bugs related to the new site launch rather than due to Free accounts being limited - premium accounts are also having some problems finding certain films so i'm sure that will be figured out fairly soon.
