Modern Times

As you all have noticed, our servers were under so much stress that they had trouble keeping up with all the activities. The need was so high that we came up with a donation scheme, to which you all responded brilliantly. After briefly considering using the money on a short holiday to the Bahamas, we decided to buy ourselves a nice, new, modern and shiny database server (we will be doing a blog post about our technology later).

Once it arrived, Marijn frantically set about preparing the server. Today was the day that the server was ready to be installed (as followers of our Twitter account had no doubt noticed). We just put the site back so everything should be really fast again. Marijn still needs to do some tuning and tweaking, so there might be the occasional maintenance mode message. Having a new server means that several of the issues we had of late have been resolved. Most notably this includes the top users not being updated and the top lists update messages not including your actual checking status. Of course, everything in general should be faster than the last couple of months.

We have more good news. Development of iCheckMovies 2.0 is in the last stage and we expect to go in beta within weeks. That means the release of iCheckMovies 2.0 is near! We can't wait to show you the revamped site, of which we are very proud (and hope you'll like it as much as we do).
