Nice to have a fantasy list, but yikes. That list has a broad definition of the term "fantasy" if it includes Basic Instinct (1 and 2?!) and Pretty Woman on it. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory but not Wily Wonka?? And the 3 lost films on the list should be removed now that it is official.
@garvey Toronto is a non-competitive festival, so i don't think its "People's choice awards" are considered as prestigious. It probably should become official eventually but in terms of awards lists there are several other FIAPF accredited festival awards that should become official first: San Sebastián, Mar del Plata and Montreal. I'd like to see the Brussels and Sitges genre festival awards become official also.
I agree with you about TIFF, garvey, but because it's an audience award I think some see the award as less meaningful than others even if the festival itself has gotten right up in that top tier as a festival. It is in consideration for the future, though
BTW, some cinefils consider Toronto International Film Festival as a second most important film festival in world. May be it makes sense to make its winners list official in ICheckMovies?
