Will we have the possibility in the 2.0 version to search movies by director or by actor ?
And ss there going to be lists of directors and actors ? (like i get an award for viewing all the movies of a specific director)

I'm also interested in helping, if you ever need any beta testers. I was a beta tester for another website, so I have a little bit of experience.

@Froznic Thanks for the offer, if we'll do a beta of these features, we'll let you know. We consider 1.0 to be the beta for 2.0 ;)

So um, Just curious but uh, is it possible to beta test any of these features =D I'm willing to help submit feedback on any problems or ideas on how to fix things (I'm also a programmer). Either way, awesome site, thanks for all the hard-work that has been put into it so far. I'm looking forward to all the great new features!

We have lots of new features in 2.0. But more importantly, we are working hard on keeping iCM simple, as we think any application or device should be. That takes time, and most of you won't notice what we've done right and how much thought went into it.

Sometimes we choose to not include or even throw out a feature, because we think it would harm your user experience. We are users of this site ourselves, so we wouldn't implement what we don't want to use.

@S e e k e R and @sienel: That discussion has already been had, see the previous blog post. Competitive movie watchers and chart lovers won't be disappointed by the new release.

@MovieDearest and @sam9s: good suggestions, we'll think about implementing something like that :)

The Website is about counting movies , will the Tv Episodes in version 2.0 count as movies ?

cuz i think it will interfere with the concept and the goal of this great website.
The number of checks listed on your page will be the total number of titles you've marked as seen - including titles that only appear on personal lists (which may include TV episodes). Similar to how that number now includes titles which have fallen off the official lists.

But the number that goes towards your chart-ranking will only include titles on the official lists.

@Moviedearest ... "Plus, I doubt if the iCM staff has time to create individual award icons for each and every user-created list."

They dont need individual award icons......

actually What I suggested was 4 awards (bronz, silver ....etc ) with any icon they decide to be given to the users who create their own list with 500+, 1000+ and so forth, list of movies .... Ofcourse developers can add n number of features and functionality to this concept, but if they dont want to (for their own reasons), this can remain the most simplest way to show other how many movies (in total) an individual has seen ..... We can replace awards with starts, as you said, if it appears more attractive which is something iCM has to decide .....

Sammy

Great Work , you're the best , keep it Up!

We really appreciate the effort you're putting here.

I have a small question though :

The Website is about counting movies , will the Tv Episodes in version 2.0 count as movies ?

cuz i think it will interfere with the concept and the goal of this great website.

Thank You.

Regarding sam9s's comment on awards for user-created lists, may I suggest one way you could differentiate them from the top list awards is to do stars instead of awards.

Simply keep the same format as the awards (50% =Bronze, 75% = Silver, etc) except use a simple star icon (in the corresponding color) to indicate the member's progress in the list.

Another tab could be added to the member's award page that shows how many stars they have for the user-created lists they follow (their own and other users').

The star icon would help users tell the difference between the user-created lists and the "official" top lists.

The stars would not be included in the awards total, they would just merely be a way for users to see how they are doing on the user-created lists much the same way as the awards do on the top lists.

Plus, I doubt if the iCM staff has time to create individual award icons for each and every user-created list.

Looking forward to 2.0!

@Knaldskalle Of course the lists will be searchable, sortable and addable. We'll try to show you how that is done in a (video) blog in the near future.

Just thought of a couple of questions: Will it be possible to add someone else's personal lists to your own "collection" of lists? Will the personal lists be searchable - or listed somewhere for easy browsing?

I can unfortunately imagine a large number of "Russell Crowe filmography" lists being made...

@sam9s Thanks for the suggestion, we'll think about it :) And have patience, my friend, we can't wait either.

@Piet you said no awards for users own added list..... atleast add one simple award.....that is the total number of movies seen ...like if a user crosses 500+ movies (in his own list) ... Bronz ... 1000+ Silver...... 1500+ Gold and 2000+ Platinum ..... You can change the number to what ever you feel like.....but try to add this one.... I am sure its a simple thing for the developers ....... What do people have to say here ???
