Watchlists, disliked movies and context menus.

Update:
Thanks for the feedback everyone! As you can tell, we quickly reverted the English titles feature :)

We'll look into the option menu, how about making it appear on mouse-over instead of a click?

As for the ads: we like to think they are pretty tastefully integrated as they are now. They only appear in the lists, and only once (after the tenth position). Adding them to the top of the list is no option, as it would push the content too far down. And the bottom of the list is too far from the content - the point is that you actually get to see them.

We don't love ads ourselves either, but we have pretty high hosting bills which we have to pay for ourselves. We have to do something to lighten our burden. If you have better ideas, please, let us know.

Original post:
Change has come to iCheckMovies again! This time it's all about making iCheckMovies smarter and easier to use.

You have been sending us quite a lot of feedback lately, coming up with features and lists we hadn't even thought about. Your proposals for new features were quite similar, so it wasn't too hard to decide which ones to implement.

Without further ado, we present you:

  • Your very own watchlist - you can now keep a list of movies you'd like to see. Away with the Excel sheets, text documents and paper lists!
  • The ability to dislike movies - the opposite of favorites, really.
  • Friend-friendly additions - you can now see what movies your iCheckMovies friend and you have both seen and both not seen. No more fighting over picking a movie to watch together!
  • We replaced the old site statistics page - you can now see iCheckMovies' most checked and most favorite movies. The last one seems like a good place to find quality movies.
  • The English titles are now leading - no more C'era una volta il West, but good old plain English Once Upon a Time in the West.
  • An improved recommendation list - the new algorithm now also considers your neighbour's dislikes.
  • Some minor bugfixes - awards are now updated correctly and no more false 'new movie' indications (*cough!* Roger Ebert *cough!*)

To incorporate all these new functionalities into the design, we introduced our brand new context menu. You can see it showing up in most movie and user lists. Just click on it, and it shows you all its options.

We'd like to thank everyone that mailed and tweeted us. Keep it coming!

P.S.: If you like what we do, please consider showing us some love in the form of a donation. Thank you!
