Films101's Top 1000
Favs/dislikes: 16:2. The top 1000 ranked films from the Films101 website. Their description: The bulk of the Films101 database comes from all-time best movie lists and movie awards. Best Picture and Foreign Language Film nominees are included, many of which have been forgotten, but now are easy to find through the many browsing options. New movie releases are added when picked by selected critics. The films are ranked in order of acclaim among film professionals, using proprietary formulas. Films101 doesn't believe the exact ranking of films and filmmakers should be taken too seriously. However, approximate rankings are taken very seriously as an alternative to alphabetical or chronological listings for film research. -

The purpose of the list was not to choose "the best movies of all over the world", but to highlight the most important movies with high influence on cinematography. -
