Pardon le Cinéma vol.2: 100 films à voir d'urgence, des classiques aux pépites

Favs/dislikes: 3:0. Pardon the Cinema, vol. 2! The team of the first French podcast on cinema does it again with a new opus. New films, new classics to (re)discover, new nuggets lovingly unearthed, new great moments of the 7th art... But the objective is always the same: to wake up your screens with another cinema, an in-depth selection that travels across all continents and all genres, from 1907 to 2021, from Chile to Japan, from documentaries to action films... 100 unknown, forgotten or marginal films... to see urgently! "Pardon le Cinema" is Victor Bonnefoy (director, screenwriter and creator of the Youtube channel InThePanda), Sophie Grech (press officer and screenwriter), Marc Moquin (editor-in-chief of Revus & Corrigés), Simon Riaux (critic cinema in Le Cercle on Canal+ or on the Large Screen website), Arthur Cios (journalist for Konbini) and Alexis Roux (cinema journalist): a team that talks about cinema in an irresponsible but respectful atmosphere and brings together more than 100,000 listeners per month.

  7. Fandor 100 Essential Chinese Movies's icon

    Fandor 100 Essential Chinese Movies

Favs/dislikes: 11:0. Among the many recent additions to the Fandor catalog, I am most excited by several classic Chinese films that I consider to be among the very best to have ever been made in that language: The Big Road, Street Angel (a film I love so dearly that I modeled my wedding photos after some of its iconic shots), Crossroads, Spring in a Small Town, to name a few. The sight of these titles got me thinking: what are the essential movies that anyone curious about Chinese cinema needs to see? The following video of 50 essential Chinese language films – and expanded list of 100 essential films found further below – is my attempt at an answer.

  9. Cinemaya's Greatest Asian Films's icon

    Cinemaya's Greatest Asian Films

Favs/dislikes: 28:0. In 1998, Cinemaya asked 34 critics (mostly Asian critics) to list their 10 favorite Asian films. Cinemaya published all of these lists in issue #41 of the magazine. #1 Tokyo Story appeared on 20 of the lists. This is a list of films that appeared on at least 2 lists. See this spreadsheet for vote counts. 6 of the critics listed "The Apu Trilogy" without specifying an individual film, so I counted each trilogy vote as a vote for all 3 films. You can see some of the top 10 lists in this Google book preview.

It formed part of bfi's South Asian Cinema 2002 programme designed to present to the British public for the first time the immense diversity of South Asian cinema." This is the list that was compiled by experts. BFI also ran a user poll.
