As inflation continues, this list will increase exponentially. This list should either become The Top X Worldwide Box Office movies, or the limit should be increased. Top 250 would be more than enough.
The problem with this list will be challenging to fix. Gross sales are meaningless without inflation adjustments but given that this list includes international ticket sales and every country has different rates of inflation this adjustment is not trivial. Simply capping at some amount (ex. top 250) won't work either because new movies have a huge currency advantage over older movies. This is a good idea in theory but in practice can't produce what it claims: the most popular, money-making films of all time.
My suggestion: List the top 5-10 grossing movies for each year beginning in a year where this data is generally available. This way movies are being compared to others in the same year. Unfortunately, this list isn't easily scraped off Boxofficemojo.com so someone would have to make it first.
Recent additions include "Battleship," "Wrath of the Titans," "Taken 2," "Resident Evil: Retribution," "John Carter," "The Expendables 2," "Dark Shadows" and "American Reunion."
Surely we can agree this list is way, way, way too long and needs to be capped. Even 250 is generous for these qualifications.
I have been reading the comments on this list. What surprises me most in this list is the number of Box office flops on this list. The list implies to contain succesfull films, but this is not the case in many of them.
Maybe there should be a list with the films that made the most profit? Would be much more interesting.
This list is soon going to hit 500 movies. That seems to me like a good opportunity to change the entry criteria, to make this a Top 500 list instead of including every movie that goes over $200mil.
(I'd personally even advocate cutting this list even further down.)
Instead of raising the money threshold (500 mil would be ideal / even a top 500 films would be tolerable), they raised the film additions. 1000??? For fucking real???
A ridiculous move from the Icheckmovies team, this list has officially qualified itself to be on the same level of turdness as that Badmovies.org list (as a glaring example), where, ironically, several of those films on that "Badmovies" list are so-bad-they're-good material.
Most of the films, however, on the All-Time list are, more or less, crap. (let's hope it's a "Valentine's" sort of joke)
Right now, I'm at 40% completion of this list, and I think I will probably stay there.
I dunno, it's easy to hate on it, and I personally find the thought of watching all these blockbusters soul-deadening. To me, watching these movies would feel more like a chore.
Then again, I have a weak spot for Marvel movies, as a comic book fan of longstanding, and it would be hypocritical of me to bash people who are crazy about other franchises.
Blockbusters getting more Same Shit Different Year, boxoffices getting bigger. Won't be too long before this list is an indication of what not to watch.
"Oh no, a list of mainstream movies, this offends me with my superior and obscure taste. Worst list ever!"
We're not talking about a list of mainstream movies, but a list of SHITTY and, frankly, insulting to ANYONE'S intelligence mainstream movies, at least the majority of this list (practically 600 out of the 700 or so)
Besides, we already have a list of "bad-so-good" mainstream movies, unless we think of cinema more as entertainment rather as art and experiment.

Isn't it time to raise the threshold from $200M? So much basic garbage on this list.Rene Narciso
