This is a list of the top 500 movies by official list membership, with draws separated by highest average position. I try to keep it updated every Monday.

20-Mar-2023: A little more movement this week than previous weeks, 6 films have moved up due to gaining lists. The Wizard of Oz (1939) is the highest climber going up 3 places to #13 having entered the Adventure Top 50. A Man for All Seasons (1966) is the biggest climber, gaining 56 places to #396 after joining the History Top 50. The other films to gain lists were Ashes and Diamonds (1958) [iCheckMovies’s 1950s Top 100], Fargo (1996) [Thriller], Rio Bravo (1959) [1950s] & The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari (1920) [Mystery]. 5 films lose ground after dropping from lists – A Matter of Life and Death (1946) [both Fantasy & War], Inside Out (2015) [Adventure], Jaws (1975) [Thriller], Meet Me in St. Louis (1944) [Musical] & The Blue Angel (1930) [1930s]. Three films dropped out altogether – Infernal Affairs (2002) [Mystery], Roman Holiday (1953) [1930s] & La Notte (1961) [1960s]. A Star Is Born (1954) comes back in at #491, having gained the Musical Top 50. So, two films appears at the bottom of the list to make up the difference – The Blair Witch Project (1999) & Chariots of Fire (1981).
On a personal note – I’ve been to the cinema five times this week, to see Pearl (2022), Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey, Shazam: Fury of the Gods, Rye Lane & 80 for Brady (all 2023). That takes my annual total to 44. I’ve streamed a few at home as well – Il Gattopardo (1963), Rocco and His Brothers (1960), Ninotchka (1939) & The Big Heat (1953). Also, not from this list, Ready or Not (2019). This boosts my progress on this list a bit, after a few weeks of stagnation, to 350/500 and complete down to #267.
