This top 500 was made for the biannual MovieMeter Poll of 2023, where my username is Dievegge. It's a mixture of Hollywood classics, European art films and some less obvious personal favorites. What they have in common is a focus on suspense, humor and psychology. Every year from 1920 to 2022 is represented at least once. This is an update of the 2021 version.
