   Well made but runs quite long, and having not seen the musical, I really hope the sequel makes Glinda more likeable because

   I didn't buy her friendship with Elphaba at all. Right until the end it still looked to me like Glinda was exploiting Elphaba

   It is a testament to the quality of the performances, music, and art departments that they all shine despite having such boring director at the center. Chu is what keeps this from being one of the best movie musicals of the XXI century. Just imagine what Spielberg, Chazelle or even J.J. Abrams would've done.
   
   It's still a fun show. Big, loud and charming. The kind of spectacle that's worth leaving the house for. Way better that the things it inspired like Frozen and Maleficent.
