Cannot say i was not entertained at times. This series pays homage to many horror films of the past. Beside obvious (Exorcist 1973), i also noticed John Carpenter's Prince of Darkness, End of Days with Arnold and even a little bit of Terminator.
There are some similar visual tricks in one episode, like Kubrick did (maze in Shining).
Many themes and stuff jumbled together, fast-paced, frenetic, trippy and slightly comical = typical Alex de la Iglesia. In other words: all these could have been handled in a subtle manner and without CGI exaggeration.
I also did not really like how Megan Montaner's character was sexually exploited. Megan is a beautiful and sexy gal, but that was not really necessary - to make her somewhat slutty.
Priest (Fernandez) was simply not very interesting. If i would make my edit of this series - would delete as many of his scenes as possible. And of course all those crappy-looking monster scenes, because that stuff belongs in some dumb Hollywood motion picture for kids, or at best: video game. 1 year 2 months ago
