Pretty standard as far as slasher films go but extremely gory. Basically the Halloween updated movie but with Leatherface. 2 years 10 months ago -

Another horror franchise trying to reclaim its fame.
Loads and loads of bloody gore but with a story where actions make very little sense (even for a horror movie) and very few, if any, likeable characters it doesn't deliver. 2 years 3 months ago -

What horror movies have done to portray the youth in every decade, the producers here lean into for zoomers of the 2020s. I think that is a necessary trope of the genre, and is done pretty well in tongue-in-cheek movies like Bodies Bodies Bodies. In this latest TCM reboot though, it falls flat on its face.
The 2003 remake of TCM not too long ago seems like the flagship for the brand of horror that dominated in the 2000s. Gritty, gory and more serious in order to try for real scares. This came as a response of what Horror movies, especially slashers, came to be by the 90s: a bit silly, killers throwing out one-liners, all culminating in some meta and goofiness with Scream and Scary Movie.
This 2022 remake tries to capture that grittiness typical of most TCM movies, and it succeeds at points. The silliness injected in this frankly does not fit though. The party bus scene is one atrocious example, but it seems like all the jokes are at the expense of zoomer culture, like a dad wrote this and wanted to point out how stupid his 19 year-old kids are. To be fair, it was pretty funny that the characters were literally worried about their "bus-full of potential investors!" Using that line in everyday life now. 2 months 2 weeks ago
