Even though I'm not a fan of musicals, I could appreciate the final dance sequence. Its choreography and shooting were p cool.

Not the most charming of musicals, but Bebe Daniels' performance and the final sequence really make the movie.

Well, somebody had a trump card, and ace in the hole, a card up the sleeve didn't they?! What a wonderful web we weave when first we practice to deceive! Can't put a show on in time, can't dance, can't sing, writing stinks...wah, wah, wah...but then...that ending...FANTASTIC!

Great Movie! But favorite Busby Berkely movie by far for me is Roman Scandals. Check it out, especially the production done for "You can build a little home", done outside in a homeless park! Sample lyrics "It's not a palace, or a poorhouse, but the rent is absolutely free! This is my house, but it's your house, if you'll come and live with me". I thought the outdoor natural look of this movie superior to the typical 30's faux art deco design look. Also, I still think Harry Warren's work with Al Dubin was some of the best he ever did. Anyway, didn't intend to make this an ad for another movie. 42nd Street has wonderful music especially (Warren and Dubin again), and Ruby Keeler is one of a kind, including somewhat klunky dancing, a little thin but true voice, and an indescribable sweetness that let Busby to do a production number In Dames featuring hundreds of bigger than life size portraits of her, paraded to "I only have eyes for you."

The main girl reminds me of Julie Andrews in 'The Sound Of Music' ....just with none of the charm, talent or singing ability. Okay film nonetheless, the supporting cast pulled me through it and the last number was great to watch.
