The scene with the
children protecting their Mom and how she suddenly becomes loving and rational
was so hard to watch. Mental illness is such a devastating thing. The sickness can appear in so many different intensities and stages. It effects everyone around the ill person. This movie shows in graphic detail the pain of it all. 10 years 9 months ago

Gene Rowlands gives the most horrifyingly good acting performance I have ever seen in the first hour. I though the dinner scene was the best scene I had ever seen, but then the movie just kept getting better and better. 9 years 1 month ago
