Disappointed. Had a bigger budget than Ben-Hur. A too long quite boring drama with few action/war scenes. 5 months 2 weeks ago -

Starts out as a Nick Ray subversion of the West imposing its values and being outraged at resistance, winds up little more than cheap Cold War propaganda about the godlessness and atrocity of the Chinese. The questions raised by the ending make me think that this could have been a clever and confrontational movie for many sides but, considering Ray's collapse and replacement, we will never know. 12 years 8 months ago
