I don't understand the opening scene.

It is too melodramatic, but it's also a great war film. I think the battles were impeccable, and it is interesting to see the Korean side of a war that's usually been talked about from an American point of view. I didn't think it was more melodramatic than Saving Private Ryan, by the way, and that's been acknowledged as a masterpiece far too many times. 13 years 7 months ago -

I felt that the movie could have been a lot better if the history behind the Korea war would have been more developed. It's not an obligation for every war movie to tell the history behind it; but if the political and historic reasons of the conflict were there the movie would have been a lot more interesting, specially because tensions between the north and the south are still alive today for what i know. It was really melodramatic, yes, but i enjoyed it anyway. 12 years 4 months ago
