I'm a huge fan of baseball movies and Gene Kelly, so I've waited far too long to watch this one. It's an entertaining gem - funny, decent songs, a lot more baseball than I expected (I expected more stage-show performances), and Kelly is fun to watch.
I disagree with caley's review on here - the song that mentions "turns out she was 11" was just a funny line that rhymes (and it's 1949 ;-) - it's not as if the song is ABOUT kissing children. Esther Williams had to do a swimming scene because Busby Berkeley directed it (she was known for her elaborate synchronized "aqua ballets", which Berkeley directed). I was actually waiting for her to perform one of those iconic numbers. 5 years 9 months ago -

Nice poster. lol.
This one was weird. From Gene Kelly singing a song about a girl whose kisses sent him to heaven but it turned out she was eleven (!) to the completely superfluous requisite Esther Williams swimming scene, it had an odd vibe.
There's a great Gene Kelly dance sequence in the middle, though. 13 years 8 months ago
