I love Meryl Streep, but this movie is just so boring. And they want to present Thatcher as this sensitive vulnerable old lady... Tell me another one... Did not like.
Atrociously boring. Streep's exquisite performance can not overcome this anemically paced and shocking uncritical look at one the twentieth century's most important and controversial figures. The bold and contentious Thatcher is recast as a stern but lovable grandmother, disciplining the unruly children of the House of Commons. Commentary about class and gender issues are so on the nose they seem farcical, and the personal moments with Thatcher are so indulgent they make the King's Speech seem subtle. This is nothing more than an ineptly executed piece of Oscar bait, and while Streep did deserve the Oscar for best actress, this movie as a whole is a boring, sentimental slog.
Biggest problem was that it was caught between being a biopic and a drama. The dementia scenes and non-linear plot/narrative didn't work for me. Streep was fine. Enjoyable overall, not a classic. 6/10.
I really liked this movie, but I understand that it polarizes people over the kind of politcs Thatcher believed in. What might have been her final years and her perspective is well explored. The problem is that people expect a biography that encompasses everything a person goes through in life, but focusing on her final years gives more substance to the movie by portraying Thatcher's inner mental workings instead of being a history channel lesson on Thatcher's controversial politics.
Too much time spent on the dementia issues (which only encompasses a decade or so of her life) and conversations in her head. She deserves a better story which discusses her life and how she came to be who she was. Streep's performance was excellent. Per usual without her I'm not sure this movie has any measure of success.
Too much focus on the dementia which really is too bad when you're making a biopic on one of the biggest figures in politics ever. Meryl Streep didn't disappoint me though.
Im soooo dissapointed of this film. I was hoping for a masterpiece, and is far from that. But, Streep (As always), does a great job, her acting is definitely incredible.
Horrible woman or not (Im not a supporter of the British Foreign Politics in her term), the film does not uses the resources it has, too much dementia, but it lacks of Malvinas conflict, and it lacks a lot to show her popularity.
Apart from everything, I think this movie, is a, Have to seen. Not a must, but, Is quite an interesting moving to criticize.
I'm not as knowledgable about the life or politics of MT. So, for me, this film was all about the incredible performance of the great Meryl Streep. Watching her work makes me feel proud and thankful to be alive. She is the Beatles of acting and all of the negative reviews that harshly criticize the film but, without exception, praise her work only proves the point. Worth the watch if only for Meryl Streep.

Woefully inadequate film that not only wasted the talent of its actors but also the time of its audience.HEMA
