i liked it and Meryl Streep is fantastic. i always kept reminding myself that this is not M.T.jamesdeans
The whole movie is actually Meryl's performance, the movie itself is weak and poor. What really saves the movie is definitely her performance.Stepwolf
Disappointing and historically inaccurate, despite a decent performance by Meryl Steep. Iron Lady focusses far too much on 'Thatcher's Perspective' as imagined by the screenwriters, and not enough on her motivation or controversial politics. Meryl Streep once again proves why she's the greatest actor of our generation (if not all time) but the film is an otherwise conventional and unfocused biopic. Not even Meryl can hold together an entire film just on her own! It's just such a vanilla film.smokeandmirrors
Streep was amazing in this film. I loved her performance. And I actually did like this film a lot too, though it' s far from a masterpiece.ScreaminJay
Shameful portrayal... let's hope they make a better movie one day about ThatcherNinjagodzilla
What a disappointment.the3rdman
Mostly rubbish with a few striking moments. You would think that, with such an eventful life, they wouldn't have to play the same note for the majority of the film.mandapuspi
Without Maryl, the film would be drop dead super boring. Great performances from Maryl, and kudos to the make-up department. Jim Broadbent always broke the ice every time he appeared on the screen.NeverTooEarly MoviePredictions
Some early screenings to Thatcher's family members and members of her conservative party complained that the film focused too much on dementia. However, Phyllida Lloyd used these scenes to make the movie more accessible to people who may not share Thatcher's conservative politics, and it made the character relatable for me in a way that might not have been possible if it had only been a platform for her ideology.Chaz
Whilst it has a couple of impressive performances from Streep and Broadbent, The Iron Lady is deeply unsatisfying and fatally flawed as a piece of filmmaking. There was no examination of Thatcher's politics or how those politics developed. In fact, the character of Thatcher didn't change, grow or develop throughout her life according to this film. The director, Lloyd, is more interested in a Thatcher suffering from dementia in her old age but had remarkably little to say on the subject. The unrelenting adherence to Thatcher's own perspective in her remembrance of her life also means that there is no political analysis beyond the surface; anyone who disagrees with her is just "weak, weak, weak". This is not good enough when tackling this giant of a woman.

Too much emphasis on the dementia in this film when there was so much interesting material during her time in power that could have been used. With that being said Meryl Streep needs an Oscar for this absolutely outstanding performance. But on the whole its a very disappointing film.tin can
Pretty good - it turns out that Meryl Streep can act! Noticeable gap between her performance and those of some of the smaller parts, which tended to be a bit hammy. The historical aspects were only skimmed over in the briefest way with more focus on Thatcher's current/recent mental state.Kasparius
Extremely bad film.manute5150
She was a major contributor to the downfall of the Soviet Union. Margaret Thatcher also put away her preconceived notions of Ronald Reagan and realized quickly what he was trying to accomplish and how both leaders had a similar vision of geopolitics.I wish there had been more of an effort on this film. She deserved more.
