meryl was superb, i admire that woman so much and i hope she wins tonight.
perhaps if a different director had made it we would've had a different view of thatcher's life, and not so much about her allucinations and shit
She was a major contributor to the downfall of the Soviet Union. Margaret Thatcher also put away her preconceived notions of Ronald Reagan and realized quickly what he was trying to accomplish and how both leaders had a similar vision of geopolitics.
I wish there had been more of an effort on this film. She deserved more.
People's dislike of work and thus dislike of a hardcore conservative leader leads to an irrational dislike of a truly wonderful movie about an extraordinary woman.
I'm not as knowledgable about the life or politics of MT. So, for me, this film was all about the incredible performance of the great Meryl Streep. Watching her work makes me feel proud and thankful to be alive. She is the Beatles of acting and all of the negative reviews that harshly criticize the film but, without exception, praise her work only proves the point. Worth the watch if only for Meryl Streep.
Disappointing and historically inaccurate, despite a decent performance by Meryl Steep. Iron Lady focusses far too much on 'Thatcher's Perspective' as imagined by the screenwriters, and not enough on her motivation or controversial politics. My thoughts: http://criticalrevue.tumblr.com/post/23850704201/maggie-thatcher-and-the-living-dead
Meryl Streep once again proves why she's the greatest actor of our generation (if not all time) but the film is an otherwise conventional and unfocused biopic. Not even Meryl can hold together an entire film just on her own! It's just such a vanilla film.
Mostly rubbish with a few striking moments. You would think that, with such an eventful life, they wouldn't have to play the same note for the majority of the film.
Without Maryl, the film would be drop dead super boring. Great performances from Maryl, and kudos to the make-up department. Jim Broadbent always broke the ice every time he appeared on the screen.
Some early screenings to Thatcher's family members and members of her conservative party complained that the film focused too much on dementia. However, Phyllida Lloyd used these scenes to make the movie more accessible to people who may not share Thatcher's conservative politics, and it made the character relatable for me in a way that might not have been possible if it had only been a platform for her ideology.

i liked it and Meryl Streep is fantastic. i always kept reminding myself that this is not M.T.jamesdeans
The whole movie is actually Meryl's performance, the movie itself is weak and poor. What really saves the movie is definitely her performance.Stepwolf

Streep was amazing in this film. I loved her performance. And I actually did like this film a lot too, though it' s far from a masterpiece.ScreaminJay
