Like its predecessor, it is definitely worth a watch. Not a masterpiece, but entertaining enough.

Bit more of a standard fetch quest than the first one and a lot more action. Other than that it's more of the same and that's a good thing if you ask me. Ends a bit suddenly though, they are clearly planning a third film.

I enjoyed the first one but didnt love it.

I enjoyed this one but didnt love it.

It felt like more of the same. Whatever your opinions were of the first, you will probably feel the same way about this one. 7/10

Sorry not really understanding the excitement for both of
these films. They seem like standard 6/10 sci-fi flicks that you watch and quickly move on...

Am I honestly missing something here?

Plunging us into the same world where the danger of the smallest noise becomes a moment of tension, A Quiet Place Part II takes place seconds after the first film, give or take the prequel prologue that restates the stakes. But if the original expressed what a parent is willing to do to save their children, the second is about letting those children come into their own. The postapocalyptic tropes are recognizable - the dregs of humanity turning on each other, a pilgrimage to the one safe enclave, etc. - but Krasinski has put a fresh coat of paint on it. His character's absence is only partially filled by Cillian Murphy as a reluctant hero who has lost everything, including hope. Really, the hero of the piece is Millicent Simmonds's Regan, who has the most of her father in her. Like I said, the kids step up. With the family split due to circumstances, the film ably cuts from one set of characters to the other to keep the suspense going, beautifully keeping two action set pieces alive without ever losing pace or tension. Felt I was watching a master class in structure and editing. If you liked the first one, there's no reason you won't like the second, even if the bloom of discovery is necessarily off the rose.

And once there were sounds. One of the rare movies You understand how important is that audio supports the picture (or vice versa).

Another finely directed and edited horror chapter by John Krasinski which stands well above most of its competitors. This time, we're more focused on the hide-and-seek "action" against those terrifying creatures (think: Alien, The Thing, Jurassic Park kitchen scene) which is, again, well done. In the original entry though, the monster was revealed much later which added to the suspense and threatening atmosphere; a bit of the wonder is gone.

If you like this type of movies, you shouldn't miss AQP2. From a creative perspective, it could be asked if it really adds that much to the novelty of the original to warrant a sequel. Looks like we'll get even another one.

btw, I imagine the huge shifts in volume to be physically tense in theater. Non-native speakers should consider activating the subtitles for this - one second everybody's whispering, the next a freakish thing screams at you. I've seen worse jump scares.

Far from bad but also felt like one chapter of The Last Of Us, rather than a fully developed sequel. That's fine but not what I was expecting.

It makes me think, we live in a world where we can hype anything, and billions will believe in that hype

Much of the film is quite dull, and then the final act splits off into two stories and Krasinski clearly doesn't have the directing skills to keep those two plates spinning simultaneously.
