It's rare with me, though it does happen that aspects of a movie are objectively bad cinema but I'm so emotionally hooked I don't care. I can't think of too many films more heartbreaking than AI.Siskoid
Spielberg takes over from Kubrick and manages to play to both their weaknesses. It's unusually uninvolving and detached (Kubrick) and manages to tack on an additional "feel-good" (i.e. sappy) ending (Spielberg). Regardless, the Pinocchio themes are well exploited and eerie, and the whole production is superbly well done technically.Earring72
Interesting movie with a spectacular performance by Osments but overall too many changes in flow/story that just didn't click for me.Stone_cold_jane_austen
So I assume the child eventually grows up and becomes Mark WahlbergJeank
A Fairytale,a sad trip where fantasy and sci fi came together.Spielberg play with both in an emocional, touching way, almost using horror tools. There's a sinister side in the film its hiding behind the DavidĀ“s world. The process of changing color in the cinematography is beautiful.
It involves the Kubrick death that hurt too.I know if he could finish the film it will be more serious but this is destiny his soul will live in it forever

A tough movie to review. I liked the story of David living with his family and all the conflicts and touching scenes and also the social criticism - and most of the scenes with David and Gigolo Joe also had lots of appeal. I really have to praise Haley Joel Osment's acting - also loved Jude Law.The effects were great, all the robots looked amazing.
But though some scenes were really imaginative and visually amazing, the movie didn't really seem to work as a whole for me. The ending was somehow visually fascinating and also touching and interesting if looked at seperately... but for me it didn't work with the rest of the movie. I also didn't like the idea of Dr. Know that much and the fairy thing became a little too much. Jude Law was great, but a little less of his sometimes quite strange dialog might have sufficed. Even the scene with Prof. Hobby could have been a little better.
All in all, great topic, amazing visual style, great acting and some wonderful ideas. I just think these elements could have been combined in a different way to create a better movie.

This movie is brilliant. Another great job from Spielberg.the movie is less dialogue and less action, so for sone people it might be boring. But keep watching it, the climax and adventure is started at the middle of the movie. The last part of it is twisted and really touching heart.
After watch it, I just feel how grateful it is to be human, be able to feel both good and bad, love and hate, dreaming and realistic -- not just the half part like only feel live and dram without be able to feel hate and realisic.

This movie is simply terrible. It had great potential, and it becomes such a waste of time as the story progresses. Wow.Marsellus Wallace
Well it was going good to until the end. It was kind if a let down. But before the ending i thought it was a great, i mean really great. It was a original concept and the did a good job telling it 7,8/10CMT
I hated the little boy/robot.Rigters
I don't understand how crap movies have 8 in IMDB and this has only 7. It should have at least 7.5.Very touching movie.

I agree that the ending was a bit of a turnoff dragging the film down. Still, it's imaginative and worth watching once.airi86ja
