I'm of course a fan of Grant Morrison's All-Star Superman, and the animated adaptation didn't disappoint. Obviously, scriptwriter Dwayne McDuffie made some cuts, but the shorter running time makes the various revelations come out of the story, rather than the barely remembered plot points in the monthly grind. At first, the film seemed entirely too episodic (an artifact of the comics series), but after a while, I settled in, and it all became very touching. Yes, McDuffie's death was in the back of my mind, which certainly made the story more poignant, but I think even out of context, it has that poignancy. I haven't bought a lot of the WB's superhero animated movies lately, and haven't heard good things about those I skipped anyway. This one's a winner though. 8 years 7 months ago -

First a confession: I have not read the comics that this animated adaption is based upon. I can only opine on the movie as a stand-alone creation. The color pallet and art style are beautiful. It's very good, very effective story telling. I found it reminiscent of Silver Age story with modern sensibilities. I know that may be vague to many, but I'm not able to effectively explain that briefly. I think its only shortcoming is too many story lines. For example the Kryptonian couple may have fit the flow of the comics, but feels shoehorned in the movies 11 years 3 months ago -

This is an awesome Superman adventure.
Ok, if you read the comic book by Morrison & Quitely it will not be so impressive. But it still can be a great animated feature. 13 years 1 month ago
