Cult classic that really holds its own, even 30 years later. Great entertainment with an eccentric mix of horror and bizarre humor.

Manages to weave horror, humor, romance and drama together pretty deftly. Some very memorable sequences. Ignore the inane sequel.

This movie has what has to be the best werewolf transformation sequence seen on screen.

As others have stated, this is mostly a horror-comedy that definitely doesn't take itself seriously. It breaks the mold and is worth watching if you're in the mood for a dark comedy with gore and that is entirely original.

The exquisite blend of horror and comedy, which where championed by Evil Dead II six years later, are mixed to perfection here as neither becomes too dominant. The London setting and other points of reference reminds us of the classic The Wolf Man from 1941, but updates the tale from Victorian times to the 1980s. Landis weaves magic with suggestive pop music, outstanding special effects work (from Rick Baker), good performances and a terrific script. Delivers the best werewolf transformation scene in movie history and builds up to an excellent climax. A classic!

Surprised by all the negative comments here. I just watched it for the first time and thought it held up magnificently. I guess if it worked for everyone it wouldn't be a cult classic...

I wanted to like it and appreciated the effects, dream sequences and use of the undead but I found it neither funny (thanks to the very stilted delivery of the lead) nor scary (thanks to the lack of any tension during any of the attack sequences).

Probably the best soundtrack of a horror film I have ever heard. Kind of a weird comment to leave about a horror film, but it was so good it just stuck out to me. Went with the film both thematically and was pleasing in its own respect.

Different paced by your average horror film standards. Hard to really compare to just about anything. Its a quirky film that is definitely worth your attention.

Move over, Scream, this is the real genesis of the horror movie that's seen other horror movies. The tone is all over the place on this baby, and that's what made it a cult classic. Overall, though there are some scares and enough gore, it falls in the comedy category for me. Why, Landis' background porno and the car accidents in the climax alone...

I was really disappointed: despite a couple of good humoristic moments, I found the movie uninteresting, long and absolutely unscary. Just not good.

I personally felt this movie was much better than the Evil Dead series -- I know that comparison isn't really warranted and I know I am among minority in this respect.

I did enjoy this movie a lot.
