Almost an echo of, or spiritual sequel to Reiniger's most famous work, The Adventures of Prince Achmed. Only this time, his lover, too, has agency.
One gets the feeling that what would have been several layers in Achmed, with finely-lit details, has become a single, painted layer in the "true colour" here - a layer which lacks the finesse, subtlety and beauty of the former, perhaps due to Reiniger's evident lack of comfort with the format. 9 years 8 months ago
