Why this is told out of chronological order is beyond me. I thought maybe there was going to be some kind of twist about who through kids were, but nope they are exactly who we think they are.
Other than the plot is very, basic, it doesn't really do anything I've not seen in most other dystopian stories.
Shame because I kept hearing a lot of comparisons to A Quiet Place, which was one of the best films I saw this year, so I was pretty psyched to check this out.
It compelled me forward to watch to the end but the main plot was just a donkey with carrot on a stick on its head, but at least the pregnant donkey wanted to be Momma donkey by the end. So "hurray!" for character development.
They never answered as to what it was that were after everyone. You may be satisfied by the food store clerk's Internet search and the hand drawn pictures of the infected guy but it just seems like they stuck in satisfy and only barely. M Night's The Happening failed in that regard and this movie/book seemed to recognize how that failed to satisfy even barely.
"Two pricks in a pod" line was one the things that more than satisfied.
I don't regret watching it. It was enjoyable but not a tell your friends to see it kinda movie unless they enjoy this sort of thing. Expect an abundance of suicides, murders and tension.
Decent for a couple hours of entertainment, but it did feel a bit just... I don't know, blah. The blindfolds were an interesting aspect and kind of made you rethink how you would survive in this particular dystopian world. There is a lot that is unexplained and personally I would have liked a few things laid out or maybe hinted at in order to make the overall plot tangible.
A lot of negative talk about this one. Was expecting the worst and quite positively surprised, actually. I guess there were three big problems: 1. A Quiet Place doing a very similar thing a lot better in the same year, 2. a subpar present-timeline while all of us wanted to see the apocalypse happen 3. the concept of people running around unseeing like jerks and driving CARS blindfolded, Jesus Christ. It's actually hard to not make fun of it.
There's one whole scene which stayed with me, though, and that is
the lunatic getting into the house and starting to go completely nuts and tear down all of the thoroughly installed security measures
. The fascination for this (thankfully!!) unexplained entity/curse just seemed so very real and leading to an inevitable, horrible death; why would someone compliantly cause that? It's shocking, beautiful, it's horror in broad daylight - very nice.
Riding around in a boat with a blanket on your head for 2 days straight .. not so much.
I honestly enjoyed it. I sat on the edge of my seat from the first second... but not sure how I feel about the ending though. That felt a bit mediocre. And I never know what to think of Sandra Bullock. I never see a new Sandra Bullock, always the one from Speed. I loved Speed and I think she was okay in Gravity, but it's never special in my opinion.
A wholesome horror movie which I know sounds like an oxymoron, but really very unlike NUN which had too many villians /scary beings. Characters fleshed out and message clear. Hooks you with the blindfolds!!
The scene where Gary come for Sandra and the 2 babies had me quaking. Overall a beautiful survival story and damn scary too.
For a psychological horror, this was surprisingly more like an adventure thriller.. nothing horrific, scary or gory about it. A little tense at times and twice I managed a chuckle, but that was about it.. I expected more, and not being a fan of horror films, I'm glad my expectations weren't met.! :)

Stephen King's wrong. This is mediocre.nowhereman136
All build up and no pay off. Death for the sake of death. no explanation, no twist, no deeper meaningdevilsadvocado
This plays like a made-for-TV melodrama that offers nothing new to the genre.Michaaaaa
People who like post-apocalyptic/disaster plots, like me, will enjoy this film; nothing too special but I enjoyed it.kombelpeter
This is a confusing mess. Wouldn't recommend it.Falkhorn
None of this would have happened if Sandra Bullock had an abortion.dM
This was a two hour string of clichés. Never frightening. Only surprising in its predictability.I introduced my forehead to my palm multiple times.
A lot of people must have worked very hard on this one.
They shouldn't have bothered.

Better than the happening but still a very average movie. The flashback parts were the best parts of the movie, wished the movie had solely focussed on that story.
