Cate Blanchett's role of a lifetime. Holy shit this was incredible. An acting class for years to come. 11 years 4 months ago -

A crowning achievement for Woody Allen, being one of his greatest later works but one of his best of all time. As for Cate Blanchett, what else can I say? She's a force of nature, taking acting to a completely different level. She's staggeringly brilliant. I don't see how she wont win best actress. 11 years 2 months ago -

An absolutely wonderful movie.
Cate Blanchett was a revelation. She is always wonderful but this one was just amazing. Such a great actress, it was just a joy to watch her in all the different emotional states her character was going through.
The film itself was pretty well-made, too. Woody Allen is really a master of dialogue; the whole movie consists of little more than dialogue and it was still absolutely gripping. The conversations between all the characters where just so interesting to watch and seemed so real... and it was easy to relate to different situations, even if you'd not experienced them yourself.
The flashbacks were great, ever present but not confusing at all, just adding to the atmosphere and creating a good story. There were countless really funny moments as well as sad ones.
The only thing that initially bothered me was the ending, it didn't seem right to cut the movie off at that point... but after some consideration most of that feeling was probably just based on the fact that I had such a great time watching the movie and did not want it to end at all. 10 years 11 months ago
