The movie that marked the silver age of Hollywood, the one that changed the face of cinema. A film that inspired filmmakers like Martin Scorsese, Francis Ford Coppola and Quentin Tarantino.

I'm surprised at how many negative comments this film has. I found it to be entrancing from the very first beautiful extreme close-ups of Faye Dunaway. With its morally ambiguous story and protagonists and unconventional romance, it is to me one of the most interesting Hollywood films of the 60s. A definite courageous and much needed shift in Hollywood storytelling that deserves its iconic legacy.

PS. But yes, Blanche Barrow has got to be one of the most annoying characters of all time.

The first half of this film plays out in a carefree vigorous youthful spirit, not unlike its protagonists. It is not until its final half hour that "Bonnie and Clyde" begins to put words to its message. Clyde Parker's slow-descent into madness and Bonnie Parker's reluctance to leave him despite herself, redeems this film's final half and gives meaning to its first.

Bonnie & Clyde starts with a nude woman (technically) and ends with a shoot-out that violently and relentlessly riddles two people with bullets. In 1967, that must have been a game changer for American cinema. So I completely accept its place in movie history, and can definitely see how it made Faye Dunaway a star. She's electric and more than a match for Warren Beatty's charming bank robber. But the buck stops there (sorry about the pun, which you'll get if you've seen it). In a film where the point of view is squarely with the bank robbers, or indeed, is born and dies with their relationship, I would have expected more insight. As is, these guys are criminals because 1) the Depression means money is scarce and banks are evil anyway and 2) they were bored. Once Bonnie and Clyde are in a relationship, or once someone has joined the gang, the motivations are understandable through the acting if nothing else, but it's those points of intersection, when someone actively makes the choice to become a criminal, that glossed over and feel completely unjustified. The film is the poorer for it, and the criminal escapades eventually become tedious.

I would never thought this film would be funny but it is!, sadly the film starts very fluent and decreases til the end and become quite slow but quite supportable. The real couple had 23-25 yo, the actors made the impression of someone older.

Disappointing. It's not a bad film by any means, but I was expecting better. It's very romanticized however, I knew that going in, so that wasn't a problem.
The true Blanche Barrow said "That movie made me look like a screaming horse's ass" and indeed, this is true. I can't believe Estelle Parsons won an Oscar.
In contrast, Warren Beaty, Faye Dunaway, Gene Hackman and Gene Wilder were great imo.
Still, I just felt the film didn't have anything different to offer. I would give it an 7/10, however recognizing it's influence in filmmaking, I will give it an 8/10.

I have to be honest, I do not like this movie, all characters are incredibly annoying.
I hate the wife of the brother of Clyde, oh my god the most annoying character that I saw in a long time.
The story is not anything special, I'm glad this movie is not in the top 250 of imdb.

And I thought I'd never find a film with a soundtrack more annoying than Scarface's...

Not as well put together as Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid or Paper Moon, but nonetheless worthy of its place in film history. This is the first selection on my list of New Hollywood era films:
