Director James Whale returned (with some coaxing, apparently) for Bride of Frankenstein, which has a fun conceit - Mary Shelley herself telling Byron and Percy that her story isn't quite over. If the sequel followed the novel, it would end on an ice flow, but while the movie pays lip service to some events in the book (like Frank learning to speak), it actually goes in a completely different way. To put it colloquially, it's bananas. Like, what's that bit with the tiny homonculous? Beyond some pretty impressive effects, I mean. That's just very weird. But the Bride herself is a too-little seen triumph, and the plot moves along at a great pace, straight from the last moments of the original. My only problem with the movie is Una O'Connor over-acting all over the place as Minnie the Maid. They use her less in the back half, thankfully. Bride should be on anyone's list of sequels equal or superior to the originals.

Frankenstein 2: The Monster Goes to Kindergarten and Develops an Alcohol Problem.

Still a good movie, though

A brilliantly tragic tale of life, death and love. Great writing, great directing and the lighting is genius. This is a beautiful horror masterpiece and totally deserves all the praise.

Wanted to like it, but as soon as I saw, or should I say heard that old woman from the Invisible Man, I think my brain imploded.

For some reason, liked the prequel more. Nonetheless, this was good.

Superior to the original and one of the greatest ever movies. A gothic masterpiece.

Much more entertaining then the first Frankenstein film. The character of Frankenstein himself if a lot more developed as you see more of a human side to him. I felt a lot more sorry for him in this film then the first, Yet he's still has the ability to be frightening, when he's pissed off. Had to put up with the insufferable Minnie(Una O'connor) throughout the film though which was a drag. Non the less a great horror classic.

Much better than the original. The "human" side of Frankenstein here is more developed, which for me is the interesting part of the character.

For a movie with "Bride" in the title, you'd think we would see a little more of the titular character. This movie is a bit all over the place. I found myself scratching my head more in this one than in any of the other Universal monster movies I've seen thus far. Umm... miniature people?

Nice sets and cinematography it's just the really terrible acting that is annoying.
