fuck anyone who is coming with homophobic comments. also whoever said this would be boring if it were a straight couple.... well it wouldn't be a film because that's not the story. it's about them not being able to express their love because homosexuality is vilified and people get killed for that kind of thing where they live. This is a wonderful film with fully fleshed characters and a real emotional core.

Joker of Gotham

This movie surprised me a lot, I was not expecting for the film to have this story. Once again Heath Ledger showed his talent and Jake Gyllenhaal did the same thing. Could not agree more with @Forrester. I think this movie was robbed of the oscars of Best Motion Picture of the Year and Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role

Really sad and beautiful movie about a forbidden love. Great acting by Ledger and Gyllenhaal and beautiful cinematography and music. It's a pretty slow movie, but I loved every minute of it. Especially the ending was really emotional.

I think the film was pretty good. Although I think there should have been more of a build up to their shenanigans. I found the characters frustrating and very selfish, not necessarily saying that is a bad thing.

I hate all these silly anti-gay comments I read on the internet about the movie, had it been a movie about lesbians, comments would be severely different. Such a shame that our society is so closed minded.

But yeah, overall I enjoyed the movie.

i thought it was a great movie! @poiatica nobody would have batted an eyelid because the male and female relationships have been portrayed a million times already. a love story from this prospective hasn't been done as much that is why there was so much hype over it. but it is also well made even if you don't like the story you have to admire the acting and cinematography!

This is one of those films I watch again and again. The story is timeless and I cry every time, sometimes even during the beginning credits.

Jack Gyllendaal and Heath Ledger are phenomenal. Absolute perfection. It doesn't really hurt either that those two actors are in my personal top6 of all time favorite male actors.

Great acting but it is indeed overrated. Scenes that actually matter and should build the protagonists' relationship are blubbered through like someone who is embarrassed or nervous about the content they're discussing, or in this case, portraying. Scenes that do not add anything to the movie drag on longer than necessary. Only about three scenes made me feel like the protagonists actually cared about each other. Good cinematography and the movie was still able to give the vibe of a potentially great love story but it just didn't happen and that's truly a shame.

I liked the movie. Great acting by Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal.

It was great to see how the main characters realized and slowly accepted their affection towards each other and found a happiness that had been missing in their lives - just to find that the world was not ready to accept this at all. I think it's not only a beautiful story about two people but also a plea for tolerance.

The story is touching, important and heartfelt, and all the leads give great performances, with great chemistry between Ledger and Gylenhaal. That being said, something about the combination of script, music, landscape shots, and cross-fading transitions left me somewhat cold and feeling like this was a higher quality movie of the week.

Still, it's a nice story with incredible performances. It just felt a little lacking beyond those two things.

I didn't love it, but it was good everytime they were together and it has a touching story. Heath Ledger is heartbreaking.
