Yea, that particular scene in The Shining was inspired by the closet scene in Broken Blossoms.

Fellini's La strada is also loosely based on this film.

Nearly perfect acting. A tragic and emotional masterpiece.

To appreciate this movie, the viewer should be familiar with silent movies other than Chaplin or Keaton and consider the period in which this was made.

Some of the best acting performances I have seen in any picture from any era. The editing and Billy Bitzer's camerawork are very good as well.

A must-see for lovers of true sadness. This is how tragedy and emotions should be transferred to celluloid.

Don't watch it on archive.org, its quality is poor and it does not have a musical score, instead get the DVD released by KINO.com
