The movie has no entry on ICM? Is the movie just a version of the tv-series edited down in length?

This is the real deal. A movie/documentary about Carlos, aka The Jackal, probably the first worldwide famous terrorist.
In 1971, Frederick Forsyth wrote a book named "The Day of the Jackal", in which a terrorist called Jackal plots to kill France President, Charles de Gaulle. In 1973, Fred Zinnemann adapted the book in a movie with the same name. A nice movie.
In 1975, after the OPEP attack, Carlos ran away from France and left behind Forsyth's book and other belongings behind. UK's newspaper The Guardian established his nickname after this fact.
In 1997, the book was again adapted in a movie ("The Jackal"), with Bruce Willis trying to kill the American president. Poor but funny movie..
So both movies, 1973 and 1997, aren't about the real terrorist Carlos The Jackal, but just adaptations of the book from where his nickname came.
That's why, this one in the real deal! 8/10
