If you can get past the creepy cgi, bad pacing, confusing music choices, cringeworthy jokes, and entire segments of sheer boredom... theres some pretty good dancing
If you're familiar with the stage show you'll already know that Cats has no storyline. For this reason I knew exactly what to expect and didn't personally find it to be any more offensive than any previous incarnation of the production. Yes, the cgi was horrifying and I'm baffled as to why anyone okayed such a harrowing human-cat hybrid to be immortalised on film. If you close your eyes it's definitely tolerable.

Fantastic visually! Otherwise a nice film adaptation of the classic musical by Lloyd Webber / T.S. Eliot. Can not understand the low average rating at all. However, it made me go in with low expectations.
Actually I think the problem is they tried to add story. Just sit back and enjoy the show.
Unless you are freaked out by the visuals, but you saw them in the trailer so you only have yourself to blame.
Overall reasonably true to source material, I am now going to spend a week getting Mr Mistoffelees tune out of my head.....
Oh no there never was there ever a cat so clever.....
Easily the worst movie I saw in 2019 (for whatever that’s worth). The much talked about cgi alternates between being nearly flawless at times and being laughably sloppy at other times. Tap dancing through the floor. Faces that slide around as the camera pans. Terrible acting. Terrible singing. Mediocre dancing. You could cut out the first 45 minutes and the last 15 minutes and not lose any important story points and you’d still think the movie was too long for what little they story there was. I think watching two hours of my reactions to bad cgi moments would be more enjoyable than the actual movie.
Oh Dear! Everybody knows how badly characters are designed in this one (reminds like it would be made with "Face Swap" app, so somewhere should exist a movie about humans with... faces of cats). And about cats themselves - cats never ever behaved so boring before.
Cats is horrible, but the CGI isn't really the problem. I go into it in more detail here: https://www.terribleblog.net/2020/01/cats-its-like-singin-in-rain-but.html

Skimbleshanks was robbed!Anyway! This is so bad it’s... fascinating. Definitely worth a watch. Campy garbage like this doesn’t get a 100 million budget everyday.

Beautiful rendition of the musical. If you don't like (the) musical(s), this movie might not be for you. But if you do, it's a wonderful ride.Emiam
