I think this movie portraits one of the most realistic futures that ever made in history of cinema industry. No flying cars, laser guns, advanced ai, gigantic spacecrafts but the awful tomorrow that we might leave to our children as a legacy.Siskoid
A science fiction fable/thriller set in the 2020s when a child has not been born in almost two decades. Clive Owen stars as a reluctant hero who must protect humanity's last hope at surviving, but it's not really about him. It's about the world Cuaron has created, and be extension, about ours. Children of Men is the ultimate victory of the global economy over humanity, with a fascist Britain savagely protecting its borders from refugees from the rest of the world's collapse. The gritty, washed-out documentarian camera, keeping all the effects in the background, creates an entirely believable - and terrifying - future. The film has perhaps the highest count of incidental animal appearances in all of cinema, a nice touch that reminds us of who will inherit this childless Earth.sammysin
So incredibly beautiful.nes1983
What makes the movie hard to watch is the MacGuffin. Because while you kind of know that you aren't supposed to think about the Human Project. That the movie is really about the journey, and not the reason to go there. But then again, you know, I'd like to know more about this dystopia: how did Britain become the only country of relative order? Was there a war? How did that play out? It's all very curious to me.And it isn't completely irrelevant to the plot. Maybe the overall big picture of their times explains why there's so many dogs and cats. You want to see the big dystopia reflected in the small details. Rather than guess together a vague picture of the dystopia, you want to see how the overall structure of their dystopian world breaks down into minutiae.
Good movie, still.

The thing I loved about this film is the amount of long uninterrupted scenes there are. I believe at one point the director actually called cut, because there was some fake blood on the lense, and they ignored him and finished the scene. One of my favourite scenes is when they are in the car at the beginning. The way the camera was able to capture everyone in the car without cutting for like 5 minutes was incredible

Dem long takes.asiangotrice
I think a lot of people had problems with the film being largely ambiguous. However, there were clues shown throughout the whole film for possible explanations. Viewers should pay great attention to details when watching "Children of Men." I have to say that I loved every second of it and continue to watch the film over and over again.Marasmusine
A continual fustration is action/sci-fi films that rely on fast cuts, loud music and extreme shaky-cam for their action sequences. Here we have a rare example of a film with tense action scenes that have long roaming takes and no score, with characters I care about.

Pure beauty. Can't stop thinking about itGodPepper
The camera work was the best I have seen in war and action scenes. It really brings you there.danisanna
Great movie, very touching and very frightening psychologically. I would have loved more info on what happened and what happened afterwards but then again, it's also part of its charm to just experience a snippet of their lives.Earring72
Gripping but bleak drama!SHARKSHREDDEr
Second that, Marasmusine. I really liked the scenes where the camera followed the main characters running in the war zone. It was very nicely done and more wellcrafted than the ordinary contemporary action films that Hollywood produces.Malfumax

One of the greatest movies of recent years, incredibly shot, acted and written. Chilling and gripping, probably more affecting due to the fact that I live in London.Showing items 1 – 15 of 40
