I have always had immense affection for City Slickers, but it was doubly interesting to watch it now, while I have the characters' age and am at that point in my life when I should be having a midlife crisis. This is a film that gets better with age, and its mix of comedy, dramatic heart and western tropes is sheer genius. 8 years 7 months ago -

one cliché follows the next, the story is predictable from the very beginning, billy crystal's humor and self-pitying gets annoying quickly and the overly melodramatic music makes me hate the movie even more. btw why exactly has jack palance received the oscar for this?
