I hate to say it but Clint Eastwood should retire. I would have wanted to applaud him for being an actor/director at age 91, but in Cry Macho he is playing the role of a character obviously written for a thirty-forty years younger actor. It is just uncomfortable to see Eastwood walk with his old man shuffle, embarrassing to see a beautiful woman throw herself at this stiff, almost mummified nonagenarian and silly to see him pretend to one punch knock out a muscled guy in his thirties. When Eastwood gets on his knees to look under a car, I feared he wouldn't be able to get up. It doesn't help that the kid actor looks too old for his role as a 13 year old and his acting is awkward. The movie lacks tension and drive.

Easily one of Eastwood's weakest directorial efforts. Not recommended.

Truly disappointing. Incompetent in many ways, specially screenplay-wise. Looks pretty, tho.

Another Clint movie in 2021, who could imagine that :-) This is not a great movie. Clint is at least 25 years too old and it shows. The kid actor can't act and nothing exciting really happens........but Clint's screen precence makes up for a lot, the movie is funny, nicely shot and although slow and the simple story, never boring.

It's ok but thats it.

Good pacing, not so sure about the ending unless it's meant to be a lesson? Good film, not great but it's fine to watch 6/10

I agree with user ymmv, and while I do agree Eastwood should retire from acting, I don’t think Eastwood should retire from directing - Richard Jewell is a great film with great performances, and that was only two years ago.
