To my mind, this film is very slight among Griffith's early shorts, some of which are quite powerful-- and often quite striking in their social messages. However, Scorsese cites this film in his doc for technical reasons, in particular as a very early example of crosscutting for dramatic effect (at the film's dramatic climax). 10 years 8 months ago -
