I disagree with those saying that it was slow moving.I thought the pace was perfect.
Poignant, sad, beautiful. LOVE it.

'snoozefest'? Ah, such intelligent, insightful criticism there, Monty. After all, what could be more boring than men, facing death, struggling with the choice between sacrificing their lives or betraying their faith? Nothing even exploded! This is a beautiful film, suffered from some pacing issues, and occasional philosophical heavy handedness -as in the penultimate voice-over scene - but overall very good.

Beautiful and melancholic. The feeling it gave me certainly stood with meKenneth McMahon
Excellent and thoughtful low-key film.Timec
"'snoozefest'? Ah, such intelligent, insightful criticism there, Monty."This is Monty we're talking about - "intelligent, insightful criticism" of this nature is his stock in trade.

Beautifully shot and melancholy, with great acting from everybody involved. I don't think it quite achieves everything it sets out toallisoncm
I thought Lambert Wilson was really hot as a man of the cloak. That was a little distracting. The movie kept me intrigued all the way through, but since Monty doesn't like men, I could see how he might not be as engaged as I was. It was also exciting to see this film in Paris, France in my late twenties as I was living the dream.TalkingElvish

I felt the film moved too slowly, even by arthouse movie standards. I was falling asleep towards the end.monty
