A lot of Hollywood movies from the production code era snuck in homosexual themes through coded language and actions: Warlock, Ben-Hur, etc. But nothing is quite as blatant and hilarious as this. The gay subtext might as well be supertext. Worth seeing for this alone.
Also, there's plenty of tense dialogue, tough guys, overwrought women, slaps to the face, and sudden decisions that make no sense. A great noir.
