Although Greer Garson is her usual stellar self (an especially grand display of blissful delight turned to bitter disappointment is brilliantly done by Garson), the plot and writing of this story are woefully lacking. It is very difficult to conceive of Garson (Mrs. Miniver) hopelessly in love with Robert Mitchum (the tormenter from "Cape Fear") . I suppose when this movie debuted, however, that was not an issue for that audience. 12 years 1 month ago
