   The filmmakers have attempted to make a modern-day adaptation of The Third Wave. This required some creative freedom on the writers' side, which unfortunately affects the credibility of the story. The characters and dialogs seem very staged. There is a clear expiry date (MySpace was still a thing). But most of all, the unnecessarily added dramatization

   especially the suicide at the end and the incarceration of the teacher, none of which ever happened in the original Ron Jones experiment
