It is a 3 hour movie, and the intro alone is about 30 minutes, but it never overstays its welcome. I've seen 80 minute movies that were 50 minutes too long, this one could've kept going and I would've been fine with it, just to know what happens to these characters.

Every line of dialogue pulls keeps you engaged, every shot is beautifully framed, and combined with the incredible acting portray deep complex emotions and characters that leave you wanting more. This is a movie I'll be thinking about for a long time to come.

This was a great adaptation of not just Murakami’s story, but also his structure. The movie is very long, but it gives so much time for us as the audience to find ourselves in the story and gives us the space to react and think about the moments and relationships and conversations we are seeing, rather than just plotting along scene by scene. Quite meditative and inviting. Great film

This is pretty long, but stays interesting throughout. Beautifully interweaves storyline and the Chechov play the actors are rehearsing in the movie. Appealing on many levels.

Long, untraditional in pacing, but amazing performances and a really unusual structure. Fascinating throughout, but I can’t say I loved it. Nonetheless, there’s so much being said and discussed here and the parallels between art and life are at the heart of it.

7/10
Lidingö FilmStudio autumn 2022.
Unpredictable, very long, poetic, beautiful about a Saab 900 turbo and the ones who drives it. Based on a novel in three parts, linked together.

I am wondering which year it was, when the tide turned. And Foreign language Oscar winners turned to shit.

I remember those days when I used to rate these as 10/10, I remember those days fondly.

Meandering and melodramatic, but that's what you get for adapting Murakami.
