What a wacky film. There's a solid nugget of class satire buried here, as a Depression-era yacht sets sail with a staff of fallen society types forced to wait on coarse, nouveau-riche passengers. But then they're shipwrecked and have to endure a giddy, sociopathic queen and her brownface subjects. The songs are pretty solid for such a shoddy production, and this is Pre Code so there's a lot of bare midriffs and (men's) nipples.
TCM's plot summary led me to believe someone would be fed to hungry sharks, but this unfortunately did not occur. 2 years 3 months ago
