Crackling script, sweet location and great casting helps lift a film that could have easily been cliched through its referencing of cliches. Great fun.
It goes on already explored territories, but surely, not a typical teen movie. Credits for the stunning acting of Emma Stone and the parents, Stanley Tucci and Patricia Clarkson, and for the beautiful tribute to John Hughes.
There was a part when a though that the "Easy A" of the credits were because Emma's character would hook up with the teacher, and it disappointed me a little bit when I realized it wouldn't.
Emma Stone can do no wrong, so I checked out Easy A, one of those "diary" type teen movies, this one heavily inspired by - and riffing off of - John Hughes movies. It's the story of Olive Penderghast who, faced with a false rumor about her being a "slut" decides to embrace and exploit it, at first for the benefit of others, but things eventually go pear-shaped. Narration in films tends to irk me, but Olive is at least witty, and surrounded by at least SOME quirky and interesting characters (her Liberal parents, played by Patricia Clarkson and Stanley Tucci, are worth the price of admission), though the Evangelicals at the school are easy caricatures (satire's good, but a little obvious at times). If you're going to do John Hughes movies, you could do a lot worse than Easy A, and one can easily see how it was Emma Stone's breakthrough role as the lead.
It's like Juno but with more forced wit and wooden acting
The 80's references just make you wish you were watching one of those instead of this crap.
Everything makes no fucking sense, there's no thought put into anything.
Also blatant advertising all over the place
The movie would've been nice if it didn't imply that it would be okay for her to be called those names and be treated that way if she had really done what they thought she was doing.
It won't rock your world but it's an easy going lighthearted movie. Funny and a bit over the top (lol Amanda Bynes). Truthfully, I think the succes of this movie comes down to Emma Stone pulling off making her character likable. She's great and charming and kind of makes up for a lame plot.
May not seem like a movie guys should be interested in... But it's definitely worth a watch. I took my girlfriend to see it and it was a pleasant surprise.
I had low expectations for this movie. And I was proven wrong yet again, that being prejudiced is not right. Emma Stone acted well in this flick and the movie was downright hilarious. The ending did disappoint me though. [7/10]

It's Emma Stone. Love the acting, light drama, comedy, and a good ending for the hopeless romantics. :)krisflushednemo

Sadly pretty clichéd and not all that funny. Emma Stone and her character's parents were the only likeable people in the whole thing.yocxl

There are drawbacks to married life, and being subjected to movies like this is one of them.ProcrastinatingMark
