Life, customs and the fight for survival in the desolate wastelands of the Venezuelan plains. This is part of Unesco’s Memory of the World: National Cinematic Heritage. Interesting as a piece of microhistory. Though it will probably be of little interest to most people, it's important to have these little pieces of memoria. Especially about cultures where stuff like this isn't easily preserved. It's on KG.
The animal lover in me was a bit rattled though... :(
I watched about 20 minutes of agonizing, brutal treatment of animals, only to find that the final few minutes added unsubtitled dialogue that left me feeling like I shouldn't check off the film. Sigh.
