I found it a very odd experience watching a typical-of-the-time Cary Grant film with a co-star I'd never heard of.
So imagine my surprise when I learned after that said co-star - Betsy Drake, who has a sort-of down-home, Donna Reed look coupled with a somewhat-breathy Marilyn Monroe voice - was soon to become Mrs Cary Grant! Perhaps I knew this at one point, but forgot. I found their chemistry lacking and pairing quite unbelieveable, so certainly wouldn't have guessed.
I think their odd pairing affected my ability to like the film as much as I might have if it had featured a more well-known female star of the time.
Drake's friend in the film, Diana Lynn, was quite sweet and cute, and it might have been better if they'd swapped roles!
Meanwhile, the tune 'La Mer' / 'Beyond the Sea' feature heavily throughout the whole pic - lovely. 12 years 5 months ago
