Wow... so much hate in these comments/reviews. Not baseball lovers? Maybe because I'm a middle-aged man is why I love this movie so much. It's not just about baseball, it's about second-chances and blind faith (although, i'm not religious). The music is beautiful, great performances (compare this performance by Costner to Bull Durham, which he filmed right before this), a fantastic speech about baseball by an iconic voice, James Earl Jones. And yes, I cry at the end, every single time.

Joker of Gotham

This movie was nominated for best picture, I thought the subject of the movie was something more real, but never the less the movie is touching and is not bad, it is not a great movie but it has become a classic american movie on his on right.

I was expecting to cry but it just never happened. This is a happy film, not a sad one! Costner is a good actor but I've seen him in better. I guess because I'm not American or a middle aged man I don't relate in the same way. Maybe if they made a film about teenage girls playing rounders in North West England I would be more empathetic.

I always cry at the ending. It's a movie that is sentimental and rewards the faith of those who think there is a little more to their dreams. Yes, what this guy does is crazy and stupid - and anyone is right to criticize Ray- but Ray's reward is that he makes peace with the dreams of the past
